Arimidex is the aromatase inhibitor of choice. Arimidex’s mechanism of action – blocking conversion of aromatizable steroids to estrogen – is in contrast to the mechanism of action of anti-estrogens such as clomiphene (Clomid) or (Nolvadex), which block estrogen receptors in some tissues, and activate estrogen receptors in others.

The drug is appropriately used when using substantial amounts of aromatizing steroids, or when one is prone to gynecomastia and using moderate amounts of such steroids. Arimidex does not have the side effects of aminoglutethimide (Cytadren) and can achieve a high degree of estrogen blockade, much moreso than Cytadren. It is possible to reduce estrogen too much with Arimidex, and for this reason blood tests, or less preferably salivary tests, should be taken after the first week of use to determine if the dosing is correct.

Although Arimidex does increase testosterone levels slightly in the body, it is more often used in conjunction with other steroids to lower estrogen in the body. Many anabolic steroids will convert, or aromatize, in the body into estrogen, which causes many of the unwanted side effects like bloating and acne. Arimidex is one of the best compounds to lower the aromatizing effect of steroids.

As to female. Many breast cancers are stimulated to grow by the female sex hormones oestrogen and progesterone. As to bodybuilders. Another use of Anastrozole for men is to maintain a powerfully-built and bulky physique among bodybuilders, especially those who take anabolic steroids. One function of steroids is that it mimics the actions of naturally occurring testosterone, resulting in the increase of protein levels, muscle buildup, and strength improvement.
